Our story

Why We Started RLS

We built the positioning system we wished had existed for our own family business.

From experience, not theory

Excellent businesses deserve to be known for their quality.

My husband built an exceptional painting business. I’m not saying that because I’m married to him—I’m saying it because his customers told us every day. They loved his work, trusted him, and referred him to friends.

But in the neighborhoods where we wanted to build the business, we were invisible. Google ads meant competing against cheaper painters. One-time direct mail created a brief response, then silence. Billboards offered one fleeting impression at an enormous cost.

Everything seemed to make us compete on price instead of quality.

“Excellent businesses don’t fail because they aren’t good enough. The people who could afford them simply may not know they exist.”

That realization became RVA Local Spotlight: not another source of cheap leads or discounts, but a way for exceptional businesses to become familiar, trusted, and top of mind where affluent customers live.

RLS positions you—not as the cheapest option and not as one of many, but as the business in your category.
